The Beautiful Art of Julie Fordham

Colourful Personalities #3

The art of Julie Fordham is stunning. Her paintings and art journals bear her heart to the world.
Using strong, layered colours and a collage effect she creates eye catching prints.
Julie's art projects attract and help so many people.

For the past few years she has nurtured her campaign, Love Yourself For Art. Artists from all over the world create small pieces of art and send them to Julie. Julie then reaches out to people suffering and sends them the little bit of joy. It may seem like a small gesture, but the gesture itself means a lot to those who need it.
As a previous contributor of art to the project, I have witnessed more than one person who appreciates the thought and sentiment.

She has her brand new website up and running! [link]
Here's a few of my favourite pieces, old and new;

Give her some love, she deserves it for all the goodness she does with her art;

BUTTON POETRY
Website

Poetry isn't dead. It's just confined to circles. The most exciting of these circles is Button Poetry.

Started in 2011, the main aim was to create projects and poetry slams for poets to have their voice heard. In 2012, they began to publicize their poets projects on youtube and tumblr. With the help of social media the website has gone from strength to strength. Here's a few of the poets that really stand out;

Neil Hilborn- OCD

Neil Hilborn gained a lot of attention for this poem. His ability to take on the subject of OCD and talk about it with so much passion caused a lot of people to take notice.

Rachel C Wiley-- 10 Honest Thoughts About Being Loved By A Skinny Boy

Rachel C Wiley talks frankly about her subject. A unique voice telling women they do not need to be 'a novelty' when it comes to being bigger.

Michael Lee's frank attitude towards his strength at overcoming addiction is refreshing.

Colourful Personalities

Artists that explode with creativity.

Creativity is something that is constantly moving. Artist that creating masterpieces that move off the canvas are the most valuable. These types of artists not only have an unbelievable technical talent but they themselves are the canvas. They tend to ooze a edge of coolness that cannot be artificially created.
True personality and art should always intertwine.

Charmaine Olivia

The muses of Charmaine

Charmaine Olivia is a 24 year old self taught artist living in San Francisco. She mainly paints the female form; altering from self portraits, to portraits of friends, to those of famous women.

Her personality intertwines with her oil paints and muses. Comparing her early paintings with her more recent ones you can see a clear evolution in her art and life. Her art has become more colourful and she is more willing to experiment with movement and the flowing form.

She emerges her lifestyle in art itself. Pictures of her studio give a glimpse of the beautiful clutter of space filled with colour and quirky nick-knacks.

Photos from Instragram where she keeps fans updated

Charmaine's sunny studio

One of the most important aspects of her art is how she engages with her audience. In a world of easily downloaded pictures she makes her fans want to own a piece of her art. She is active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and her own website. Charmaine has understood the need to be an artist in full view, to brand her image and art together. This leads to a strong fan base which is evident with the amount of positive comments on every photo posted across different social networks.

There is also a lot of fans with
tattoos of her art, which to her credit she fully supports. There is no complaint of copyright infringements, merely pride in her fans. Pride that they love her art so much they get it inked onto their body. The highest complement. Definitely an artist who shall be around for a long time.

A cobbled selection of music currently being played on repeat. All in an effort to distract me from masters applications and being scared of the future.

New Addiction; The Office

 I always seem to fall into tv shows a long time after everyone else. My latest addiction comes from the U.S Office. It's one of those shows that has always been around; one that I've always heard about but never really watched. Then, as always, summer started and all the shows that are currently being made disappear for a few month.

I'm really enjoying the writing in The Office. It has everything; a crazy sitcom comedy side, a heart-warming side and relationships that everyone wants to succeed. Their way of telling stories really deepens the characters. The office politics takes center stage. These are the in your face story lines of what is happening in Dunder Mifflin Paper Company everyday. However, the beauty of the show is how it integrates the stories of the workers. It builds their history, their relationships and their personalities by a line here or there throughout the episodes.You casually pick up on Merediths problem with alcohol, Kevin's gambling issue and in the beginning it was the simple lines between Angela and Dwight that tipped you off to their relationship.

The moments that happen away from the camera are brought in so fluently and effortlessly. This display that it is an exceptionally written mockumentary. A number of the cast are both writers, producers and directors for the show. They clearly know their characters and what works best for them. With it's large fan base and having come to an end this year, I can imagine it staying as popular as the likes of Friends.
